Sac De Jour

sac-de-jour

So I must admit…last year I went a little bag crazy. I got my Chloe and my Chanel, but when I saw this Saint Laurent “Sac De Jour,” I instantly fell in love. Usually I’m a sucker for shoes, but I guess this was the year for me to up my bag game!

Translated literally, sac de jour means “bag of the day.” But I think this bag isn’t just for the tastes of a day…it’s for a lifetime. Perched high on a shelf, I spotted the rich cognac color from afar. And yes, the color combined with the classic shape bear an uncanny resemblance to the Hermes Birkin (sorry I’m not sorry). Honestly, I love it! I was torn between this and a fiery red, faux crocodile mini version (seen here), but something told me that I would love this classic color and larger size for many years to come. I also think you can wear a caramel or cognac bag from season to season! Other details I love? The white top-stitching and leather-encased padlock. With a removable leather pouch in the center (perfect for your phone and lipstick), the bag combines sophisticated elegance with practicality. I’ve already worn my bag a couple times (like here), so I hope you stay tuned to see how I style it next! So yeah…maybe I went a little overboard with the bags. But really, can you blame me?

Happy New Year Dolls! Can you believe that 2017 has actually begun? While 2016 was pretty crazy, I really enjoyed the last couple of weeks of the year spending time with family. We spent the holidays laughing, shopping, and eating and drinking way too much. It’s been fantastic!

If you follow me on Instagram then you might have seen my story spending New Year’s Day getting a massage and relaxing at the One Ocean Spa, overlooking Atlantic Beach. It was so relaxing and serene! P.S. If you don’t follow me on Instagram, then head over to my page because I share exclusive content via my page and Instagram stories. Check it out HERE!

Between spending time with family and visiting the beach, I’ve been hitting my old stomping grounds around Jacksonville. I actually showed Jason the old surf shop where I worked in high school, which is unfortunately going out of business now. I made sure to pick up some stickers and surf T’s to remember the good ol’ days. Besides the surf shop, we visited my favorite art museum, and my favorite neighborhood in the city. Little 5 points is a young and energetic area that feels a little artsy, edgy, and has the cutest stores, bars, and restaurants. There is actually an old movie theater which was once a venue where I went to my first concert. Oh the memories! We thought the neighborhood was the perfect place to capture my outfit of the day and snap some photos in the sunshine. For our afternoon exploring the city, I wore some casual, dark jeans from H&M. I actually got these on sale for $7. What a steal! I paired my jeans with a navy pinstriped blouse from Zara. I’m absolutely obsessed with the flared sleeves! I finished my look with my new taupe Saint Laurent bag (more on this to come), and my go-to spiked Louboutins. I felt a little bit classy, a little bit rock and roll. And in my world, I think that’s a perfect combination!

Hope y’all had an amazing start to 2017 and stay tuned for more posts coming soon!.

As y’all know, I recently got the chance to go home to Florida and escape the hustle and bustle of New York.

Given the weather up north, I was pleasantly surprised to step off the plane and be drenched in sunshine and warmth. I know that’s what it’s like in Florida, but somehow I’m always still shocked. How is it SO bright?!

But the weather isn’t the only amazing thing about calling Florida home. The warmth of the people, the closeness of family, and the more relaxed lifestyle brings comfort to my soul. Sometimes the slower pace of life is just what I need to feel rejuvenated. Not surprising is the fact that the beach plays an important part of my life and that rejuvenation. Feeling the sand between my toes, hearing the waves roll and crash, and watching the sun set behind the dunes is an experience that always brings me peace and clarity. I know that sometimes the holidays can be inherently stressful. Whether you’re preparing to entertain, wrapping up projects at work, or feeling the pressure to find the perfect gift, things can get a little hectic this time of year. Personally I’ve been traveling a lot for work, gift hunting, keeping up with the blog, and recovering from a cold. It can be overwhelming at times! That’s why I feel it’s so important to make some time for yourself and take stock of what’s really important. My trip to the beach helped me relax and remember what the holidays are really all about. And hey, if my Christmas cards don’t go out on the exact day I wanted, then it’s not really the end of the world! For my sunset stroll, I opted for my favorite pair of white FRAME jeans and a cozy oatmeal sweater from Vince. I don’t really subscribe to that no white after Labor Day rule…just call me a rebel! I think winter white outfits can be so chic and a breath of fresh air in a sea of dark outfits. I also love this sweater because it’s the perfect weight to combat the chills from the ocean breeze, but the ladder-stitching keeps it breathable. The cashmere blend is super soft, and I love that I can wear it both in Florida and New York! I had such an amazing trip and am grateful I could carve out time for a personal escape to the beach. I can’t wait to visit again over the holidays!

What about you dolls? Do you have a place that brings you comfort and peace?
