Shoes I Overwear

brown-paper-doll-shoe-collection

So I definitely have my fair share of shoes. Heels in particular. But no matter how many beautiful pairs I buy, I find myself in the same situation as so many other women. I tend to wear the same favorites over and over. Let me just say, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It just means that some shoes get more love (and abuse) than others in my closet.

So how does it happen? Since I wear heels pretty much every day, I tend to gravitate towards my more comfortable pairs. I have my favorite pumps, statement pumps, go-to boots, and rotate amongst those categories. But I still have my special occasion pairs that only come out to play once in a blue moon. I’m talking about you, suede Gucci sandals!

What I do to try and spread the love? Display my shoes evenly, so I can easily see my collection and the variety at my fingertips.

The actual shoes I overwear:
Anything Stuart Weitzman: gladiators (Sparta), heeled sandals (Nudist), thigh-high boots (Highland, AllLegs). For me, all of these options are a great fit that’s comfortable AND sexy.

Other brands: Vince booties, Manolo Blahnik pumps, J.Crew everything!

The takeaway here is – No matter if you wear the same shoes over and over, it’s important that you feel comfortable, confident, and appropriate for the situation. Yes, I have my sky-high YSL sandals I love, but they’re not necessarily the best option for me to go to work, personally. That’s why some of my shoes get more action than others – but I always try to protect my shoes and help them last longer. More on that topic later! In the meantime, you can spot me in one of my favorite pairs, strutting around the office or down 5th Avenue.

Lust List

Pre-Fall 2016

Pre-Fall-2016-Lust-List

1. Eugenia Kim.  I’ve been wanting a boater hat for a while now, and I can see myself wearing this wool version in the Fall. I also love the delicate floral detail which adds some feminine beauty to a more masculine shape.

2. Zara.  Velvet! This season’s biggest trend. I love a great crossbody bag, and the fact that it’s navy makes me love it even more. Plus, you can’t beat that price! P.S. Zara has some great bags right now, so you should definitely check them out!

3. Derek Lam 10 Crosby.  I love this dress. The colors are so beautiful in person, and I feel like it’s a piece you can wear in Spring, Summer or Fall depending upon the shoe. I look forward to pairing this with a knee-high boot, leather jacket and gold jewelry.

4. Zara.  This jacket just looks so expensive and cool. My friend Rachel and I often share new things we’re pining over with each other, and this just to happens to be on both of our lists. Stay tuned to see if we end up twinning!

5. Stuart Weitzman.  I wear my Stuart Weitmzan “Highland” bootss just about every other day in the Fall/Winter. Just ask any of my friends or co-workers. Stuart Weitzman makes the sexiest and most flattering boots. I love my grey thigh-highs so much that this year I’m going to go for a black pair – this time in the “All Legs” style that goes even higher up on the thigh. I guess the name is appropriate.

6. Creed.  Jason has worn Creed’s Aventus for a couple of years, and the fragrance is so unique and identifiable. Recently, Creed has released the female version of the scent, and I just have to try it. I’m sure Jason will be happy that I’m no longer stealing his!

7. Topshop.  Anything that makes me feel like Barbie is a yes in my book. These pink metallic platforms make me feel like disco is back! I see myself wearing these with a flirty dress for a night out, or jeans and a white top for a fun work look.

One of my favorite combinations to wear is denim on denim. Some may call it the Canadian Tuxedo, but I call it stylish when done right.

So when I’m having a chill weekend and want to feel cool and put together, denim on denim is definitely a go-to. One of my rules when wearing the look is to make sure that I pair different shades of denim together. It helps avoid looking matchy-matchy, and just adds for a more interesting look. I also like to wear my all denim with neutral accessories – that usually means my minimalist, nude heels. Lastly, I love to dress up my double denim! Since denim usually means a more casual feel, I like to elevate my outfit with some luxe details, like my Chloé bag or mirrored Dior sunglasses. I think they really make a statement!

This time my Canadian Tuxedo is all Rag & Bone. I love the ease and fit of my distressed jeans, and the off-the-shoulder denim top is the perfect shade of Indigo. My favorite part of the top is the black satin cuffs that are the most gorgeous detail. Did I also mention this top is reversible? You can have the buttons up the front, or down your back! I’m all for variety, so I’m sure you’ll be seeing more of me in this new fav.

What are some of your favorite weekend looks?
