And Just Like That

Did anyone else love the Sex and The City revival? While I didn’t think it was perfect, I thoroughly enjoyed stepping back into the world of our favorite New York City gals. And besides continuing the story, I was of course excited to see all of the fashion!

One of the looks that stood out to me was Carrie’s sky-blue date-night dress. Turns out, it’s available for mere mortals like us to purchase! I instantly tried my hand at recreating her look with the Norma Kamali dress and a white blazer. The dress is one of the designer’s classic pieces, which has a sculpting panel underneath all of the ruching to ensure it’s super flattering to the body. While I love pale blue, I imagine it’s also beautiful in a variety of other colors, including black.

What do you all think? Did I do Carrie justice?

Two In A Row

Now that I’m in my 30’s, there is a whole new set of designers that have captured my attention. I’m willing to spend a little bit more on more classic pieces that will stand the test of time. One such brand is The Row. The high-end designs of Mary Kate and Ashley have an effortless and uber-minimal style that resonates with cool girls all over the world. Fair warning that it’s very pricey, but if you can catch it on sale, I think it’s worth it. I was fortunate enough to get two pieces recently – both cream maxi dresses. One was a very minimal crepe t-shirt style dress, the other along-sleeved wool dress with a sexy slit down the front.

I love the t-shirt dress for casual evenings, and the wool for a more bold outing. I paired my look with oversized sunglasses and layered chunky jewels. You’ll find me wearing these looks for family photos, date nights, and even client dinners (the short-sleeved option of course). Now I just have to keep my eyes open for more sales!

Minnie

Polka dots aren’t usually my go-to print, but when done right – they can be so whimsical and gorgeous. I instantly fell in love with this Monique Lhuillier number when I saw it online. Doesn’t it feel like this is what Minnie Mouse would wear if she went to a sophisticated cocktail party?

I love the flocked polka dots, the girly tulle skirt, and the pretty velvet ribbon that drapes from the waist. I’d love to wear this to a Spring event, or rehearsal dinner! To finish my look and add a pop of color, I paired the dress with my pink satin Manolos and cat-eye Dior sunglasses. What about you, dolls? Are you a fan of polka dots?
