The Best Work Bags

Fashion seems like it should always be fun. It’s an expression of ourselves, right? Well, there are times when we need it to be equally functional. Case in point…the perfect work bag! I pride myself on having a couple nice work bags, and co-workers are always asking for suggestions. They want something stylish, simple, and functional (pockets, a strap, easy to travel, etc). Well, I wanted to share my current work bag of late and a couple other staples that I think fit the bill. So put away that free canvas tote you got as a promotional gift, and upgrade to one of these beauties!

My bag: The stripe adds a bit of fashionable fun, but the color palette is still classic enough for work. The strap is a thoughtful detail for slinging it over your shoulder on heavy-load days!

Want Les Essentiels: Another understated yet luxurious tote that’s equally as durable as it is stylish. I ‘m partial to the camel canvas, but it also comes in black and other fabrics/leather. It’s unisex (my husband has one) and doesn’t feel like a purse, which I love! Sometimes I like taking a separate/smaller purse to work (perhaps for happy hour) and I don’t want to feel like I’m carrying two handbags.

Cuyana: A classic tote in the softest pebbled leather that you’ll have for years to come. Cuyana’s motto is “fewer better things” and you can definitely see the quality and care they put into their items. I’ve been a fan of Cuyana for many years and this tote was the first item I purchased from them. It’s still going strong to this day!

Saint Laurent: A designer option in a variety of colors. I love that the branding is subtle, you won’t feel flashy when wearing to work.

This Fall my best friend got married to the love of her life in the most elegant wedding I’ve ever been to. The event took place in the Berkshires, MA – a location that I’ve only heard about, mostly in the context of Real Housewife getaways.

I was actually in this wedding so I didn’t have to worry about what I was going to wear to the ceremony and reception. However, If you’ve ever been a guest at a destination wedding – you know there’s more than just that one outfit to worry about. Plus with the beautiful guest list and luxurious location, I felt the pressure on the wardrobe front. There’s welcome receptions, rehearsal dinners, and can’t forget the brunches!

Well, while I was in Barcelona in August I came across the prettiest dress that was appropriate for such an event. This Maje number had sheer sleeves, a pleated skirt and tiny daisy details that add a touch of whimsy. Of course, I had to get this dress that went with the Maje western heels that I fell in love with.

I thought this was the perfect look for a Fall wedding brunch. The midi length is lady-like, and the sleeves are perfect for Fall days with a tiny chill in the air. Of course, I loved wearing this during my best friend’s special weekend, but I can’t wait to edge it up by throwing on a leather jacket and even some ankle booties. What can I say, I’ve never met a little black dress that I didn’t love! Of course, I added some luxurious details like my Saint Laurent structured tote to match the elegance of the location. We stayed at the wedding site called The Wheatleigh, which is one of my favorite hotels I’ve ever visited. From the views, the luxurious details, and the attentiveness of the staff, everything was perfection. Of course, I expect nothing less from my girlfriend for her special day. In addition to loving this dress so much, I’m so happy that I now have beautiful memories to go along with the outfit. Now every time I put on this dress, I’ll remember that perfect weekend!

Memorial Day Weekend, sunshine and summer are quickly approaching! It’s time to shed those layers and show off some skin! In preparation for the patriotic holiday and corresponding three-day weekend, here are my top picks to get the season kicked off in style!

Speaking of being poolside, who doesn’t want a new swimsuit at the beginning of summer?  I love the All-American color scheme, flattering high waist and sporty but feminine feel to this suit.

For when you’re cold post-pool, or for evening strolls on the beach. Throw on this sweatshirt as a cozy homage to one of my favorite cities (and my initials!).

I’m really into blue sunglasses, and these icy blue shades will help combat the heat this summer! Plus, Saint Laurent can do no wrong!

Sunshine calls for a straw tote to carry around daily essentials and for trips to the beach! Roll up a towel in this baby, or use it as this season’s oversized purse. You’ll take the beach wherever you go!

White blazers are kind of an obsession of mine! This one, with fine pinstripes and buttons on the shoulders feels unique and can be a great transitional piece. Plus, you can throw it over a sundress on breezy evenings.

If you’re gonna show some skin, then you need to have that healthy glow! Exfoliate and hydrate your skin with this body polish that also smells divine!
