On a perfectly cool and crisp morning, Jason and I decided to head out for a walk in Central Park before the weekend crowd usually hits. Admittedly, this is about as naturey as I’ll get if there’s not an ocean around – but the fresh air and autumn leaves were absolutely gorgeous. Even I had to give in to the splendor of nature on that morning.

We walked hand-in-hand, sipped lattes from our go-to coffee shop (shout-out to REX) and shared stories from the week. Despite sounding cliché, it was really nice to take a break from the noise and crowd of the city and just chill. Oh, speaking of chill… Did I mention that it has gotten really cold really fast. But I’m not complaining, the chilly weather gave me an excuse to get a new coat! My new black Rag & Bone beauty is a long and tailored peacoat with military-inspired shoulder epaulettes. I call it my Severus Snape coat… because I feel a tad bit dark and villainous in it. I also love that it feels a bit more masculine than my other coats.

For this morning’s stroll, I paired my coat with a simple long-sleeved Theory dress. Since it’s a bit on the short side, I layered it under my favorite shawl-collared, olive silk vest. To add some drama and polish, I finished my look with my AllLegs boots, two gold necklaces, and my Chanel boy bag. I love the autumnal feel of this olive and black pairing, and how each piece can be mixed and matched so easily. I feel like there are infinite possibilities with all of these favorites! I’ve already thrown my coat over so many Fall outfits and instantly feel put-together. Stay tuned on how I wear it next!

Fall is here ladies and gentleman! And one of the best things about my favorite fashion season is that it’s finally boot weather! Don’t get me wrong, I’m still a Florida gal who loves her sandals, but there’s something about boots and turtlenecks, sweaters and chic coats that gets me excited about the arrival of cool weather.

Call me crazy, but I think taking a little risk with your accessories is something that makes Fall fashion so interesting. So when I saw these daring knee-high snakeskin boots, I knew they would really make a statement for the new season. While I’m absolutely petrified… let me repeat… PETRIFIED of snakes… these boots just spoke to me! Think they’re not versatile? I disagree! I think they would be so chic with an all black outfit… black high-waisted pants, a black sweater and a long black coat. I even see them with a crisp white oxford over classic blue jeans. They could even be worn with mini dresses, or peeking out under a midi dress for just a hint of rock and roll flare. I really think the opportunities are endless! For my look, I paired the patterned boots with a striped turtleneck and a classic black waist skirt and a winter-white peacoat. I rarely wear a short coat, but I thought the light color really softened the look of the boots for an afternoon of brunching and shopping.

Even though they scare me a bit, I really love my new boots. I feel a lil bit country, a lil bit rock and roll! What do you think? Would you wear boots like these? What are some of your favorite styles for Fall?

Cocktails and Shoes: Is there anything else?

Last week I went out on the town for drinks with my friends, and Jacque and I ended up getting our favorite cocktail in all of New York City: The Dirty Jane. For those of you in New York, I totally suggest a visit to The Smith for this pickled-green tomato spin on a vodka dirty martini. I won’t admit how many I had…but needless to say these babies are good!

While there, Jacque and I got to talking about how cocktails have their own style, and how they can go with your mood. Quite similar to shoes actually! So here goes my guide to my favorite cocktails in NYC, and the shoes that go with them! See mom, I do have passions!

1. The aforementioned Dirty Jane (or Dirty Martini) & Christian Louboutin
A classic and sophisticated cocktail calls for a sleek AND chic shoe. With its pointed toe and extra high heel, these pumps are both classy and sexy.

2. Bloody Mary & Rag & Bone
These kicks are reminiscent of my favorite weekend cocktail. Spicy and red, these Rag & Bone sneakers are perfect for wearing to a casual brunch where you can enjoy a spicy tomato cocktail of your own!

3. Hot Toddy & Alexander Wang

A warm whisky shade of brown makes these two the perfect pair. I might be biased because I own these lovely boots – but I love them just the same. The suede is the richest color, and the metallic detail in the heel adds the perfect cool-girl touch!

4. Champagne & Saint Laurent

I want these. So. Badly. What goes better with a glass of bubbly than more sparkles! These boots are not only eye-catching but comfortable. You’ll look like you should be sipping champagne at Studio 54. Santa, if you’re out there…these are at the top of my list!

5. Espresso Martini & Jimmy Choo
Sophisticated and smooth, the deep espresso color of these velvet Mary Jane’s remind me of the rich and velvety coffee flavor of my favorite night-cap.

6. A Manhattan & Steven
I guess it took moving to the city to get me to love this essential cocktail. But being a true Southern gal, I prefer mine with bourbon. The smoky and sweet flavors of this favorite make me think of a velvet smoking slipper in a black cherry shade. Plus, the price is just too good not to indulge!
