My hair has a mind of it’s own. It’s long, it’s thick, and it’s often unruly. It’s funny because growing up I would’ve given anything to have thin, straight hair. I hated that mine took so much time and effort, and never ended up looking the way I wished it would. I guess it’s one of those grass is greener situations. Now, my hair is one of my favorite things about myself. I love that it’s thick and voluminous, even though sometimes it still doesn’t do what I want it to. Funny how growing up can mean learning to love yourself, perceived flaws and all.

That being said – my hair still does require quite a bit of effort and taming. Because it’s so long it can get tangled from time to time, and sometimes I just need to get it out of my face. So when color brush brand milk + sass contacted me about trying some of their fun hair products, I jumped at the chance. First of all – let me say that not only are these products super functional, they’re cute as all get out!

First up is their “macaron” color brush. These candy-colored brushes are shaped like my favorite dessert and are the BEST detanglers. I love that I can pop one in my bag for when I’m on the go – out for the day, traveling, and I’ve even got one stashed in my desk at work. My favorite part about the bite-sized brush is that there’s a mirror on the top of the lid! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve popped open my macaron to check my makeup and then tamed some flyaways while I’m at it. The price is great so I don’t feel bad about nabbing a couple of the pretty pastel colors to suit my fancy/match my mood!

Now – on to my new obsession the sugar twists! Also candy-colored, these hair ties hold tight, but literally DON’T PULL. They also don’t leave a huge bend in your hair when you take them out. You know other hair ties say they won’t pull your hair, but it’s a total lie – these things have saved my life and my hair by preventing breakage. Fun fact – I was bragging about these to my friend Alexa and she said that she and her mom are already obsessed! Then she proceeded to flaunt the clear band wrapped around her wrist, saved for later. I guess the word is out! While I’m packing for the 4th of July weekend, I’ve already made sure to include my milk + sass goodies on my packing list. I’ll be hitting the beach in colorful AND detangled style. For more info on milk + sass and to get some candy-colored goodness of your own – make sure to check out their website.

I’m traveling home for the 4th – but I’ll be back next week with some fun new outfit posts. Hope everyone has a safe and relaxing weekend! Xo, LA

Lust List

My Best Friend’s Style

This week I’m highlighting some lust-worthy picks inspired by my best friend, Rachel. These pieces are a little of her, a little of me – but all the way fabulous!

1. Golden Mink Eye Shadow Quad: Tom Ford.  So I’ve seen two people (with very different skin tones) wearing this eye-shadow and it literally looks good on everyone. The warm tones and touch of sparkle aren’t your everyday nude – but they aren’t over the top either. When I was in New York I sneakily used the palette after digging through Rachel’s makeup bag – and fell in love. Hook a sista up, Rach!

2. Liri Pearl Blush Choker: Lionette by Noa Sade.  Full disclosure – I already bought this choker! I had a pretty big client meeting last week, for which I had to fly up to New York. Since it was my first time back in the city since we moved, I wanted to go back to my old stomping grounds with a new outfit. I kept it conservative… but of course, fashionable! I still wanted to feel youthful and like myself. Funny enough – my mom actually picked out this choker! The blush stones bring a girly touch to an edgier piece of jewelry, and the pearl is the sweetest touch. Plus it’s on sale (link below)!

3. Ruched Shirt Dress: Veronica Beard.  This dress brings sex appeal to an otherwise conservative silhouette. I love the neckline, the button details and the figure-hugging fit. Rachel tried it on in white and it was absolutely stunning. The white is the crisp kind of dress you can wear to work and then out for rooftop cocktails and not look out of place! The black is so chic and would be great even later in the year, layered under a chunky cardigan or leather jacket. Can I have it in both black and white please?!

4. Mitzah Twilly: Dior.  Earlier this year, I wrote a post on top “neckerchiefs,” but now I’ve got one more to add to the list! On a recent shopping trip to Dior – Rach got this pretty twilly that she wears around her neck. It’s the perfect size and less bulky than a full-fledged scarf. Since then, I’ve had my eye on the monogrammed collection! I love that each letter has a distinct style – and it just so happens that the “O” is my favorite! While Rachel mostly wears hers around her neck, I see myself wrapping the handle of my favorite handbag.

5. The Noir 29 Shower Gel: Le Labo.  Again with my stealing Rachel’s cosmetics and fragrances. It’s not my fault she’s a beauty guru! When staying at her place I used this shower gel by Le Labo and the scent was absolutely intoxicating!! It’s a little pricey, but I think I’m going to spring for it to use on nights when I want a more luxurious shower experience!

6. Coco Knotted Velvet Slide Sandal: Loeffler Randall.  Words can’t express how much I love these shoes! I bought them in the prettiest shade of marigold yellow, but they’re SO COMFORTABLE and look good with everything – that now I want them in watermelon. Am I being greedy? How does that saying go, “If the shoe fits, buy them in every color!”

And there you have it…this week’s round-up. Let me know your favorite pick in the comments below!

So I’ve got to be honest…it’s hard feeling great about yourself all the time! In recent months, I’ve been hard on myself about my weight, accomplishments, and just forget that sometimes I can be my own worst critic. I get upset when clothes I used to love don’t fit anymore, or I feel like I can’t wear what I want. Despite those times, I know that all I can do is take steps to try and be better every day. It’s not about my weight, but being healthy and making better decisions for the long-term. When I feel this way, it’s rare and amazing when you find an outfit that makes you feel extra glamorous and special. That was this dress for me. I saw it in the window of DvF and instantly fell in love. With its flowy, kimono-esque style and vibrant colors, I thought it would be super flattering no matter what shape or size the wearer. I love that the wrap waist is adjustable and the high-low silhouette makes it easy to wear with heels, or even gladiator flats for a more casual daytime look. This time, I opted for nude accessories and strapped heels for a birthday/Fathers’s Day brunch with my dad. I felt extra confident in the look, and sometimes I forget that’s the most important accessory of all! I can’t wait to wear it again, and think it’s definitely a “must pack” for the Hamptons later in the Summer. Do you dolls like the look? Is there an outfit that makes you feel extra confident or special? Tell me more in the comments below!
