A Midsummer Night’s Dress

Some dresses just speak to you…and this one had my name all over it. I love to wear white in the Summer and I felt the ethereal dress was so different than anything else I had in my closet.

 

Maxi dresses are easy to throw on, look put together, and are easy-breezy in the Summer heat. With this dramatic square neckline, voluminous sleeves, fine eyelet detail – the dress looks straight out of a fairy tale. Also with ties around the waist and sleeves than can be pushed down off the shoulder – I feel I can switch up how I wear it for a different effect.

 

As soon as I got the dress, I knew it would be prime for a Summer evening out in the Hamptons. I felt the look was perfect for a night at Wölffer vineyard with my girlfriends, sipping rosé and enjoying the sunset. What a dream.

Trend Alert – Layered Necklaces

Trends come and go. Some are for me, while others I just let pass. For instance, tiny sunglasses – I’ve worn a pair here or there, but I haven’t truly invested in this trend. On the other hand, a trend I’m totally in love with is layered necklaces! For one, you can get on-board with items you already have in your possession! No need to go out and spend to make this style a reality.

 

So what are some items to consider when going for the layered necklace look? Materials and length! Let’s start with materials. While mixing metals can be fun, too many can look cluttered and unintentional. I suggest sticking with one, such as gold, which is classic and modern. To add variety, you can mix up different textures – perhaps a chain, perhaps one is smooth, maybe one is made of paillettes. There are so many options to play with.

 

Next up is length! If all of your necklaces fall at the same place, then it looks like a jumbled mess. Instead, try varying lengths that show off the uniqueness of each necklace. For me, I usually like to wear a choker, then something that falls right at the base of my neck, then a chain that lies flat on my chest. You can see the beauty of each piece and the layering effect really comes to life!

Two years ago, if you had asked me would I’d buy into the wide-leg crop trend, I would’ve told you that you were crazy. But in reality, I think it’s one of the most stylish silhouettes! Honestly, because of my body type, I have to be selective. But I have a couple of pairs that I feel really work for me.
 
One such pair is a recent purchase I found on-sale! Tibi has always been one of my favorite brands, and this white pin-striped set had me sold. In addition to the wide leg shape, the pants have wide belt loops that can either be covered with the matching top, or accentuated with a fun belt and a blouse tucked in. For the top itself, the front is all business – but the back is where the fun is at! A crossover/button detail gives a peekaboo of skin and is the flirtiest unexpected detail.
 
For my look, I capped off the white with my straw hat to accentuate the Summer vibes. Threw on my favorite summer sandals and grabbed one of my new vintage purchases for my bag.
