A Color for all Seasons

There are some colors and patterns that naturally lend themselves to certain seasons. As Miranda Priestly said, “Florals for spring? Groundbreaking.” ha

But you know what I mean – holiday reds during the winter months, pastels for Spring. Well, there’s one color that I feel works remarkably well for ALL seasons!

The color I’m refering to? Mustard Yellow! It’s amazing in the Fall/Winter with rust, grey, navy, etc…and can look fresh for warm weather in the Spring/Summer!

I love to wear this color year-round and have gotten quite the collection of sweaters, and dresses alike. This year, I opted for a new mellow yellow dress with flirty details to kick off the Spring months.  Yes, it’s floral – but I think more sophisticated than an expected pastel.

I paired my dress with the same shade of yellow velvet heels (my favorite purchase last year!) and a pop or turquoise in my earrings.

…And in addition to my dress and shoes. I’ve included links to some of my other favorite mustard pieces!

Not to be biased, but I really love that bloggers and influencers are partnering with retailers to create capsule collections. For instance, Gal Meets Glam just launched a line of dresses, Cupcakes and Cashmere, and we can’t forget Something Navy!

Well, one line that really caught my eye was Chriselle Lim’s collection with J.O.A., sold at Nordstrom. The line is flirty and youthful, and really showcases that cool girl blogger style that we all love and want to emulate!

With the arrival of Spring, I’ve really been beefing up my collection fo sundresses. This one caught my eye, combining a soft color palette, sweetheart neckline, and gingham pattern.

I wore this flirty little number with equally girly accessories by The Daily Edited on our recent trip to Chattanooga.  Jason and I were on the way outdoors to shoot the outfit, when we realized the colors went perfectly with our room. We were too inspired to leave the 4 walls, so we snapped a couple pics amongst our new feathered friends – the flamingos on the wallpaper! Rest assured, I’ll be wearing this look many times OUTSIDE! But for now, hope you and the flamingos enjoy! xo

I’m not sure if you guys saw my Instagram stories from a couple weeks ago, but I happened to wear one of my favorite tops to a Soho House event in Atlanta.

Who else wore that same top in recent weeks? Why Queen B of course! While I’ll never look quite as good as Beyoncé at any given moment, it was nice to know that the queen and i had similar thoughts on this gorgeous Self Portrait top.

First, polka dots are back in! I love color combinations like red/white, and navy/cream. Second, the structural details of this top are really what make it special. The dramatic shoulders, soft ruffles, the severe neckline, and of course the ladylike buttons down the arm – this satin stunner is too pretty and luxe to resist. Lastly, I love the hidden corset details underneath that keep the top in place and give it an extra bit of old-world shape and charm.

I paired my (and B’s!) Spring top of choice with black ripped jeans and a simple, strappy sandal. I accessorized my look with bold gold earrings and an even bolder lip to bring the pop of red in the top to life.

What do you dolls think? Beyoncé is a fan…are you?
