They say that there’s no place like home, and I firmly believe that. Every time I go back to Jacksonville I’m flooded with memories and the joy of being back home in Florida. One of my absolute favorite places on the planet happens to be at the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens, the fine art museum in my hometown.

I have memories of going to art class there as a child, wandering the galleries as a teenager, and it really helping to shape my love of art history and creativity in general. But besides what’s hanging on the walls, the museum has one of the most spectacular gardens with an incredible view of the city. It’s my happy place!

So on a recent trip home, I was wearing a romantic lace skirt that I felt went perfectly with the museum’s scenery. Long maxi skirts aren’t a staple in my closet – but I loved the combination of the black and blush – the volume and whimsy of the shape. Because the skirt is kinda a lot – I paired my look with a simple Old Navy tank top and a vintage denim jacket. I topped it off with some statement earrings which are really on-trend for summer! What about you dolls? Do you have a special place that’s near and dear to your heart?

Well, I think it’s safe to say that I’ve found my color of the summer. Every year, I unintentionally end up gravitating towards the same shade of “flame” red! I actually didn’t realize it until I sat down to write this post. You might remember this look from a couple years ago, or even this recent all-red jumpsuit look!

I find the color youthful and a breath of fresh air to welcome the heat of summertime.

I fell in love with this dress while perusing the sale rack of my local Dillards! Can you believe that I only paid $27? For my spicy look, I paired my dress with layered gold necklaces, and the same shade of red heels. I feel like a real-life salsa lady emoji! Unfortunately, my particular dress is sold out – but here are some other red-hot picks to get you ready for Summer (my favorite is only $52)!

Let me start by saying, summer in Florida is no joke. The heat is a killer! So on my recent visit home to Jacksonville, I was sure to pack breezy dresses and shorts for during the day. Honestly, I have a love/hate relationship with shorts – because I feel like my body type doesn’t naturally lend itself to feeling flattered in them. However, on a recent Zara trip, I uncovered this high-waisted and not-too-type pair of navy lace shorts.

Because of the fit, I thought they would look cute with an oversized breezy white shirt which I picked up from H&M. I finished my look with my favorite espadrilles, gifted from Patricia Green! Seriously…I have them in cream, orange and the navy. They’re so comfortable and cute! Lastly, I added a touch of glam to my outfit with a gorgeous pair of earrings from Lele Sadoughi. I’m obsessed with her fun and whimsical designs that can easily elevate an outfit. The great thing about her styles is that they can be paired with casual looks like this, or add color to a more dressed-up style. You’ll see me rocking them all Summer!
