Coats With Character

I feel like Winter down South is always so finicky. One day it’s warm, the next day you’re frozen! While I generally like the more temperate weather down here, I definitely miss being able to wear my extensive coat collection up North. I truly think a gorgeous coat can make an outfit! And while I’ve put away my goose-down coat for quite some time, I’m still interested in coats with character.

I recently purchased this Theory peacoat, which is actually quite thin and appropriate for the Atlanta weather. It has a plaid pattern and shearling collar that makes it unique. I saw it in the window of Theory and earmarked it on my mental lust-list for when it went on sale. So as soon as the price dropped, I scooped it up. The good news is that you can too!

Besides this recent coat purchase, I’ve also been eyeing the plaid coats below!

Pajama Party

For better or worse, this year we’ve spent so much more time at home in comfy clothes. And one of the ways I’ve felt like I could still dress up was to wear nice loungewear and pajamas. So after years of lusting after different colors, I finally pulled the trigger on a set of Party Pajamas from Sleeper after seeing their exclusive pink on pink color-way for Net a Porter. I’m actually glad I didn’t buy a set before, because the latest iterations have removable feathers for easier cleaning!

I’m obsessed with the gorgeous shade of bubble gum that I couldn’t wait to wear for a weekend movie night with a bottle of champagne. And since it’s a pajama party, I’m sharing some of my other favorite picks for luxurious sleepwear!

Sleeper: While I wouldn’t trade my pink for another color, I’m also eyeing the lilac set which is just as gorgeous and perfect for Spring!

Morgan Lane: I love the combination of satin and the bold green stripe. It just reads classic pajama to me. Also I think Gigi Hadid has these, and if they’re good enough for a supermodel. Then they’re good enough for me!

La PerlaJust a classy and luxe pair of silk pajamas for a more minimal vibe. The rich beige color is to die for!

J.Crew: similar to my pink on pink set, these cotton pjs are more low maintenance but still bring the girly fun. I might have to get these next!

Olivia von Halle: I love this designer’s whimsical prints, and this blue satin is just too gorgeous.

Sweet dreams dolls!

Holiday Neutrals

This Fall/Winter in Georgia has been some of the most finicky weather in recent years.  One day it’s sunny and warm enough for sandals, while the next day you’re looking for your warmest coat.  Well, when a recent cold snap hit, I was extremely excited to wear some new Winter staples.  Some of you may know that I won a contest with Lafayette 148 earlier in the year. I was gifted a couple items of my choosing and a trip to NYC to attend one of their events highlighting extraordinary women.  Unfortunately, COVID had other plans and the trip/event was indefinitely postponed.  However, the brand was generous enough to gift me some items of my choosing, which I took full advantage of this Fall.  Unfortunately, we just haven’t had cool enough weather for me to enjoy these gorgeous pieces until now. So what did I choose? A fox fur scarf and a cognac coat that is richest shade of caramel brown. They also sent me the most gorgeous accessories, which I hope to show off in a future post. In true Brown Paper Doll fashion, I mixed high and low, layering these luxe pieces with an affordable Banana Republic sweater dress that I found on the sale rack, my new Isabel Marant boots, and some trusted Céline sunnies. I loved mixing all of these neutral shades together, but each piece is definitely special enough to stand on its own.

Coat: Lafayette 148 (Gifted). Fur: Lafayette 148 (Gifted). Dress: Banana Republic (old). Boots: Isabel Marant.

Thank you again to Lafayette 148 for the beautiful pieces!
