One of my favorite brands of all time has to be Tibi. I think it’s feminine, modern, and amazing quality. Another thing I love is that their pieces are interesting…there’s always some unique silhouette or detail that adds a little something special to your look.
While their pieces aren’t exactly cheap, if you keep an eye out you can sometimes find a great bargain on a piece that will last you years to come. For example, I found this skirt on sale (featured in one of my very first blog posts) and it still happens to be one of my favorite things I own.
Well, not to make that skirt jealous, but I recently found this other Tibi beauty on sale. Yes, you heard me right…on sale (and at multiple retailers)! The skirts beautiful silk fabric has a two tone-approach, showcasing both a navy and cream side with a beautiful scarf print all-over. In this unseasonably warm and rainy Winter, I opted to wear my skirt with a slouchy Cos sweater and Golden Goose sneaks. However, I can’t wait to dress this up with a mock-neck bodysuit and my favorite pair of heels!
Two years ago, if you had asked me would I’d buy into the wide-leg crop trend, I would’ve told you that you were crazy. But in reality, I think it’s one of the most stylish silhouettes! Honestly, because of my body type, I have to be selective. But I have a couple of pairs that I feel really work for me.
One such pair is a recent purchase I found on-sale! Tibi has always been one of my favorite brands, and this white pin-striped set had me sold. In addition to the wide leg shape, the pants have wide belt loops that can either be covered with the matching top, or accentuated with a fun belt and a blouse tucked in. For the top itself, the front is all business – but the back is where the fun is at! A crossover/button detail gives a peekaboo of skin and is the flirtiest unexpected detail.
For my look, I capped off the white with my straw hat to accentuate the Summer vibes. Threw on my favorite summer sandals and grabbed one of my new vintage purchases for my bag. The accessory that really took my look over the top? The most stunning statement earrings by a local Atlanta jewelry designer. Her pieces incorporate metals, jewels and fresh florals. Yes, you heard right! Fresh florals! When the petals fall off, you’re still left with an amazing piece that can be worn over and over again. Check out all of the links below for more details…and the pinstripe set is now on sale! Xo
Do you ever find yourself sticking to colors, silhouettes, or just general styles that you feel work best for you?
For me, I feel like it’s a fit and flare dress or a full skirt. I find it’s the perfect shape to highlight my waist and looks amazing on pear shapes.
When I first started Brown Paper Doll – this look was the very first outfit I shot! I felt it perfectly showcased my style – feminine, but you can totally throw a leather jacket on top. Well, a year and a half later I’ve upgraded that same look with a new take on some black and white favorites. For our recent trip to Charleston, I wanted something upscale but not stuffy for dinners and cocktail hour. I opted for a full skirt (my favorite shape) and an off-the-shoulder blouse that shows some skin, while also letting me feel covered.
While switching it up is what fashion is all about – there’s something to be said for sticking to favorites that you feel work for you. What about you dolls? Is there a look you turn to over and over again?
