Summer Means Gingham

In my opinion, certain fabrics evoke certain seasons. Tweed makes me think of crisp air and Fall blazers. Lush fur makes me think of the bitter cold of Winter. And floral chiffon is a sure sign of Spring! Just like those, gingham always makes me think of the joys of summertime. The check fabric induces memories of pool parties, picnics in the park, and long sunshiney days.

You may have seen me rock the print last year… and that top is totally still one of my fav’s! But this year, I really wanted a dress or skirt…something a little more breezy for the blazing Georgia heat. My friends at Shein were happy to help and sent me this summery two piece! It’s the best of both worlds… I can wear piece separately, show a little midriff, or even layer the top over the skirt to make it look like a dress! Besides the versatility, I love that this look is so affordable. Can you believe that both pieces only cost $28! Yep, you read that right! So what are you waiting for? You deserve a new outfit for those few remaining Summer Fridays!

Moving to Atlanta from New York has been a great decision, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t an adjustment.  New home, new job, and the need to build a new community.  All of these things can be exciting, but they can also be daunting especially when you invest time and love to your existing ones.

Well, I’m slowly making new friends and connections – one of which happens to be an AMAZING photographer and blogger by the name of Cat Galletti.  I met Cat through Instagram (of course, haha) and she was kind enough to grace me with her immense talents by shooting this look.  Not only did Cat make me feel comfortable “on set,” but she understood my vision for the types of photos I was hoping to capture in order to help my blog evolve.  And then, the photos turned out gorgeous (btw, if you’re looking for a photographer, I highly recommend her because her talent, infectious spirit and down-to-earth approach really makes a difference)!

I’m really happy Cat was able to shoot this look in particular, because it’s one of my absolute favorites for the Summer.  Yes, I totally wore this red, white and blue ensemble for Fourth of July – but I think I’ll pair this look with my new yellow velvet mules for my upcoming trip to the Hamptons.  The skirt, a gift from my friends at Shein – is an absolute showstopper! It’s flowy, feminine and much to my liking – versatile! For this shoot, I paired the ruffled skirt with an equally feminine wrap top with an oversized bow.  But, I can’t wait to also wear it with a graphic tee and moto jacket for an edgier vibe.  Best thing about this outfit – the price! Can you believe this skirt is ONLY $30!! I’m newly obsessed with Shein, because they have such a variety of stylish clothes that truly don’t break the bank. I find myself checking the site every couple of days for new pieces that I can rotate into my wardrobe that won’t give me buyer’s remorse over the pricetag.

Thanks to Shein for the beautiful skirt and I can’t wait to share my other new, Summer looks with you all.  And of course, thanks to the talented Cat Galleti for the memorable shoot!
