Usually I’m not a fan of showing so much skin, but this year’s sheer fashion trend has me totally on board! You’re able to leave little to the imagination, but still be tasteful at the same time. So what is sheer fashion you might ask? It’s undershirts…dresses…tops with some peekaboo elements. Think mesh or sheer chiffon! Sheer fashion can be subtle with mere sheer panels, OR an entire bodysuit, or even dress.

And as someone who likes a little more coverage, I love pairing my sheer fashion with an overcoat or leather jacket and something high-waisted. So how do I wear the trend? Well, I got my sheer fashion from somewhere you might not expect…Spanx! While some may associate Spanx with the ultra-smoothing shapewear we’ve come to know and love, they also have a range of activewear, lingerie, and fashion pieces! I spotted this flocked dot bodysuit and instantly saw the sexy potential.

For my outfit, I paired my bodysuit with another great Spanx piece – The Nudist Wireless Bra in black! I threw on a high-waisted skirt to add some sparkle and glamour, and then threw on a long overcoat to only give a peekaboo of skin. Lastly, I finished my look with baby blue chandelier earrings to tie together the look. What I love about the bodysuit is that it’s so stretchy! I wasn’t afraid of poking holes, it being too tight (even though it looked tiny when it came in the mail), or being difficult to put on/take off multiple times. While I opted for a sexier look and baring my bra – I think this particular piece will be great for layering! I can totally see myself wearing it under a sleeveless dress to add a pop of texture to my look. Here’s to many more outfits or mixing and matching, layering and going sheer!

What do you dolls think? Would you rock the sheer fashion?

If you’re like me, then you might think gingham is one of those patterns/prints that is perfect for Summer! I rocked it last year with this top and most recently with this two-piece set. BUT, if you got a new piece for the warmer months, don’t be too hasty packing it away now that it’s Fall!

With a strategically placed jacket or accessories, you can extend the wear of your fav gingham piece for a little longer! That’s the case with me and these cropped pants! In the warmer months, I would wear these with a blousy white shirt and sandals. Now that cooler weather is headed our way, I opted to wear with a black bodysuit, topped off with my leather jacket. For a pop of color and texture, I added my yellow mules that bring the luxe-factor with the velvet.

I think just a couple small details help bring the outfit to life in a different way! What do you dolls think, would you rock your gingham as the seasons start to change?

I think it’s happened to all of us- you walk into a store, see an outfit on the mannequin and want EVERYTHING that makes up the look…head to toe! In today’s age of social media, we also have the perfect outfit images on Pinterest, Instagram, and our favorite bloggers to entice us to recreate an outfit on ourselves.

Personally, it happens to me every time I look at images from Intermix. It’s no longer, “oh that’s a cute sweater.” It’s “I want the sweater, but I also need the perfect jeans, shoes, earrings, and bag to go with it!” It’s a dangerous trap my friends.

Recently this happened to me when I saw one of Intermix’s Summer catalog looks. I loved the jumpsuit, the shoes, the entire spirit captured by the outfit. Well, at the time – the jumpsuit had a bit of a hefty pricetag, and don’t get me started on the shoes. So here was my plan of attack: I sprung for the shoes. I felt like those were the piece that were the most special and would be hard to copy. I’m glad I bought them! They’re the most gorgeous shade of marigold yellow, a luxe velvet that can be worn in the transition from Summer to Fall, and they’re comfortable to boot! Next, I kept my eye out for jumpsuits at a more reasonable price! I was able to find the one pictured at a fraction of the cost at my local Dillards! To finish of my “look for less” I bought a vintage Levi’s jacket on ebay for $25!

So while my look isn’t exactly the picture-perfect style from Intermix, I was able to make the outfit my own and save quite a bit of cash in the process! My advice to those of you looking to imitate the fashion images we’re bombarded with – start with the piece you can’t live without (or that you can’t replicate), and then look for some other options to evoke the same feeling, but that won’t break the bank. Plus, (and this is something I have to remind myself of) there’s ALWAYS another outfit, always another piece you’re going to want. So, splurge on the have to haves and save on the imitable. Your wallet AND closet will thank you!
