Guys, can we take a moment and just talk about J.Crew. Yes, they’re usually one of my go-to stores…but lately I’ve been wanting EVERYTHING. Fall usually means a new and exciting collection, but I’m really impressed by the variety of pieces J.Crew brought forth this season. SO much so, that I’ve decided to do another round-up of my favorite picks, focusing soley on J.Crew. It’s got texture, print, color and above all…..glam! On a personal note, this month I’m going to focus on my health and am trying to lose a little bit of weight. Not to bribe myself…but I’m totally going to bribe myself. If I can make some positive improvements on my health, I think Im just going to have to reward myself with a couple of these items.
In my opinion, certain fabrics evoke certain seasons. Tweed makes me think of crisp air and Fall blazers. Lush fur makes me think of the bitter cold of Winter. And floral chiffon is a sure sign of Spring! Just like those, gingham always makes me think of the joys of summertime. The check fabric induces memories of pool parties, picnics in the park, and long sunshiney days.
You may have seen me rock the print last year… and that top is totally still one of my fav’s! But this year, I really wanted a dress or skirt…something a little more breezy for the blazing Georgia heat. My friends at Shein were happy to help and sent me this summery two piece! It’s the best of both worlds… I can wear piece separately, show a little midriff, or even layer the top over the skirt to make it look like a dress! Besides the versatility, I love that this look is so affordable. Can you believe that both pieces only cost $28! Yep, you read that right! So what are you waiting for? You deserve a new outfit for those few remaining Summer Fridays!
So this past weekend, my friends from New York came down for a visit to say hello and check out my new home.
Every time the three of us get together, it’s the most fun ever, and this weekend was no exception! We ate at the most amazing restaurants, visited the aquarium, watched movies, and of course…went shopping. I got a new dress for Summer (coming soon to the blog) and the girls got an amazing white moto jacket and a Dior scarf, amongst other goodies. And while all of those things were a blast, it was just nice to be with my two best friends who feel like home. It was hard to leave New York and say goodbye, but this trip left me feeling as hopeful as ever that distance won’t separate us. And it was nice to share my new home with them and let them see me move on to a new stage in life. Go figure…it’s like we’re growing up or something!
Regardless of what we do together, it’s always a fashion-filled affair. We each have such different styles, so it’s so fun to go shopping and also pick out things we think will suit each other. While we were hitting the shops, I noticed that a lot of the items I gravitated to were the color flame- you know, kind of a poppy red hue. And then I realized that I did the same thing last year. I got this hot red number, and my Tom Ford “Flame” lipstick! Well, sticking with that tradition, I got myself a new Summer dress for 2017 in the same shade. I think the color is flattering on everyone, and the peekaboo cut-out shows some skin, without being too much. The best part? It’s under $60 – can you believe it! I think it’s the perfect dress for the 4th of July, a BBQ, outdoor cocktails, or simply a plain ol’ hot Summer’s day!
