All Tied Up

So warmer weather has my sights set on my upcoming trip to Miami, lazy days by the pool, and sunshine-filled brunches! Sorry to all my friends still in NYC who are experiencing the aftermath of a snow storm!

Regardless, it’s never too early to start thinking of swimsuits and the wonders of Spring/Summer fashion . This year, I noticed a trend amongst all of the items that were catching my eye – ribbon, knots, and ties! So here are some of those pieces that have got me all tied up!

Free People Midi Dress: You all know I love a midi dress and this one has the prettiest lace-up detailing down the back that is truly something special. The black is my favorite, but the mustard also makes a statement!

Chloé: One of my favorite perfumes that I happen to be running low on at the moment, because I wear it all the time! Looks like it’s time for a re-up. Its floral, but not overpowering, and seductively feminine!

Mara Hoffman One-Piece: Something about a white swimsuit is so sexy to me! The white will look bright and stunning poolside, and I love the peek of skin held together by the flirtiest little knot.

Finn Love Knot: Because nothing says tied together like a love knot made of diamonds!

Dolce Vita Amber Mules: These heels are the prettiest shade of caramel leather with a feminine twist. I love the striped ribbon that has a slight nautical feel, but would surely go with jeans and sundresses alike! Wear these with white pants and an off the shoulder top, or a bright dress that screams vacation!

Most Covetable Bags

Most-Covetable-Bags

I don’t know what it is about this time of year…but something in the air just makes me antsy to buy a new bag. Maybe it’s the treat yo self mentality of the holidays and my natural affection for handbags, but the winter months just do it to me! Last year I bought my caramel Saint Laurent beauty, and this year I splurged on my Cardinal Red Hava satchel from Proenza Schouler. So in honor of my case of the bag gimme’s, I thought I’d do a round-up of the most covetable bags of 2018 thus far. Cue the drooling!

1. A more unique take on the box bag trend, this Mark cross comes in a variety of colors to go with that new Spring wardrobe, and it’s totally insta-worthy! I think this bag is very of the moment, but classic at the same time. You’ll have it for years to come.

2. The shape of this bag is so unique that it’s become the “it-girl” bag that you can spot from a mile away. With it’s cute size and versatile handles, you can wear this bag from day to night. I also love the crackled metallic color of this particular style, as it will wear well over time!

3. I think the box bag trend is here to stay for a while. AND, did it ever really go out of style to begin with? The shape is so classic and I love this one with it’s modern metallic texture.

4. Speaking of a great deal, this bucket bag from Zara capitalizes on the great shape, but also adds special details with the metallic studs on the straps. A little bit girly, yet a little bit rock and roll!

5. A small crossbody is a staple to any wardrobe. I love this pick from Prada, because its monochrome logo makes it subtle and unique at the same time!

6. The mixture of colors and textures on this bag is just so rich. Well, the pricetag is pretty hefty, but you can tell the quality and design is what you would come to expect from a designer like Marni!

7. I’ve been pining over a crocodile bag, but obviously don’t want the corresponding pricetag. This beauty from Zara is the most gorgeous shade of green (that would also be beautiful with pastels in the Spring), and is only $22! Score! Ordering this one now!

Mama’s Got A Brand New Bag

So if you’ve been following along with me on Instagram (@laurnashley), then you probably saw that I celebrated my birthday a couple weeks ago.

I headed to New York City and the Hamptons to spend time with my friends and enjoy some sun, sand, and LOTS of frozé! Because I wasn’t at home for my actual birthday, Jason and I celebrated early while I was still in Atlanta. Initially I really wanted a new bag, because….who doesn’t want a new fancy bag for the season? But, in recent years my taste in purses has gone on the pricy side and I splurged a little too much last year. In 2016 I got my Chloe, my Saint Laurent, and the big mama of all purses…my Chanel.

With all those big buys, I had to realize that I’m not Oprah and need to cool it on the expensive purse front! So while there are many bags that I have my eye on – I had resolved to hold off until Christmas or even next year. Being the amazing hubby he is, Jason decided to pick me up a birthday treat that he had seen on one of my recent Lust Lists: the Dior Twilly!

While I had originally planned on wearing it to work under a collared shirt, I remembered loving how I saw it wrapped around the handle of a handbag. Upon opening my gift, I immediately marched down to Dior and had them tie it around the handle of my Saint Laurent. I asked the associate if it was a faux-pas to have it wrapped around a different designer’s bag and she said not at all – people do it all the time! I have to say, I’m absolutely in love with the way it looks. I think it adds even more style and sophistication to an already classic and ladylike bag. The moral of the story is that I feel like with this small addition, my bag has been totally transformed! I feel like it’s a BRAND NEW bag and I’m even more excited to wear it with new outfits. Sometimes it just takes a little creativity or a different perspective to make something old feel new again. Love the look of a scarf tied around a bag?
